The day we all have been waiting for is finally here. The Listiac Project will host its Closing Seminar on Thursday 20 January 2022. Due to COVID, we decided to live stream a full day of programme (10.00-16.00 CET) on the Listiac YouTube channel. More information about the Closing Seminar can be found here.
After a welcome speech by Dean Fritjof Sahlström (Faculty of Education and Welfare Studies, Åbo Akademi University), the Closing Seminar opens with a presentation of the Listiac Project and its aims. If you have followed Listiac since the beginning, you can reminisce about the early days of the project. In case you have joined the Listiac community later, maybe you will learn something new about the project. Tune in at 10.00 CET to hear Listiac Project Manager Siv Björklund and Conference Moderator Yvonne Backholm to discuss Listiac and to set the tone for the rest of the day.
At 10.30 CET, the floor is open for invited talks by distinguished researchers from five Listiac contexts. Professors Nathalie Auger (Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3 University), Piet van Avermaet (Ghent University), Emilee Moore (Autonomous University of Barcelona), Durk Gorter (University of the Basque Country), and Siv Björklund (Åbo Akademi University) will share their insights on Linguistically Sensitive Teaching (LST) and initial teacher education.
After the lunch break, three members of the Listiac Research Team will present some of the project’s key outputs. Júlia Llompart (Autonomous University of Barcelona) begins by focusing on LST, participatory action research, and change. Sven Sierens (Ghent University) is the next presenter, and he will present the Listiac toolkit for reflection tasks. Mari Bergroth will conclude this part of the programme by highlighting the project’s key findings and implications for teacher education.
Later in the afternoon, Professor Emeritus Jim Cummins (University of Toronto) and Policy Officer Oana Felecan (European Commission) will share their reflections on the Listiac Project. Hopefully, you are also able to stay tuned for the closing of the seminar with Listiac Project Manager Siv Björklund and Conference Moderator Yvonne Backholm.
